PEDAGOGY AT KIDSatLAKE KINDERGARTEN

KINDERGARTEN CONCEPT

Excerpt from our pedagogical kindergarten concept:

In Switzerland, starting kindergarten is a significant step in the life of a child and its parents. Kindergarten is the first official part of the Swiss education system and marks the transition from supplementary family care and upbringing toschool education. Parents entrust their child to the kindergarten staff for an extended period of time, whichrequires trust and a willingness to “let go”. Kindergarten lays an important foundation for thechild’s academic andsocial development and prepares them for the demands of elementary school through play. Family education is the most important foundation stone for the healthy and positive development of a child. The family remains the primary place of education in the first years of life. Our aim at KIDSatLAKE is to support parents in this important task by working together as partners in the education, care and support of the child.

DAILY STRUCTURE AND SCHEDULING

A well-planned daily structure is essential for everyday kindergarten life. It gives the children security and orientation and enables a varied mix of free play, structured activities and social interactions.

Here you will find an insight into our timetable and our daily routine. These are examples, it is important to us to react individually and thus respond to the needs of the children.

BILINGUALITY

Our bilingual kindergarten follows the tried-and-tested immersion concept, in which the children are immersed in two languages in a natural and playful way. Immersion means that a language is not explicitly taught, but is used as a matter of course in everyday life. At our school, the teaching staff speak to the children in their mother tongue or at least at language level C1, so that they learn the second language intuitively by constantly listening to and using it. This concept enables the children to pick up the new language just as easily and unconsciously as their first language. They are encouraged to actively use both languages through songs, games and everyday situations in kindergarten.

In this way, they learn a second language early on without pressure and with a great deal of enjoyment, which promotes their cognitive development and opens up a wide range of opportunities for them later on. Our bilingual teachers create a loving and language-rich environment in which children can communicate in both languages. In this way, bilingualism becomes a natural part of their lives – true to the motto: learning language through experience!

NUTRITION AT KIDSatLAKE

The foundations for later eating habits are laid in early childhood. Children learn their eating habits by imitating their caregivers. They adopt the behavior that is exemplified to them. A healthy and balanced diet is an important prerequisite for physical and mental well-being and development. This is why we place particular emphasis on nutrition as part of our childcare at KIDSatLAKE.

A balanced diet provides your child with all the nutrients they need to have enough energy to play and run around.

We only use fresh ingredients for healthy and varied meals. These are freshly prepared every day by our cook in our own kitchen.

WE PAY ATTENTION TO:

Healthy and diverse meals
Sugar-free drinks
Fresh fruits and fresh vegetables
Enough milk and whole wheat products
Role model function of the caregivers

We take the topic of nutrition seriously. That’s why we do our best to raise awareness of healthy eating and drinking. The children also learn how to treat food with respect and learn interesting facts about different foods through a variety of projects. We teach the children about nutrition by involving them in the preparation of meals. By making mealtimes a daily ritual, we also promote a positive attitude towards healthy eating. Good table manners are an important part of education, which is why the children learn from the very beginning how to behave properly when eating. The children should also learn to develop and assess feelings such as hungry and full. This can prevent later health problems, such as obesity due to a lack of satiety.

Children are usually very open to new and unfamiliar foods. Different tastes, smells, colors and textures can arouse their curiosity, they can try things out and find out for themselves what they like. The personal likes and dislikes of the caregivers play no role here. The children can try things out with an open mind and find out what they like.
